Carole’s Cottage began with the example of a woman who made room for people.
Our agency is named in honor of Carole Johnson, our family’s matriarch, whose home was a place of welcome for relatives, family friends, and others who needed someone to lean on. She brought warmth, guidance, and accountability to her household, giving those around her a place to feel safe and supported.
Today, her legacy shapes how we care for children and partner with families.

Carole’s Cottage is a licensed Texas child-placing agency led by a multigenerational family team with professional experience in foster care administration, therapeutic placement support, and child welfare coordination.
We bring that experience to a deeply personal mission: helping foster and kinship families create stable, nurturing homes for children, including those with complex medical, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
We know welcoming a child into your home is a commitment that touches the whole family. We work alongside caregivers with training, practical guidance, and individualized support as they get to know the child and navigate life together.
How We Care
Our hybrid treatment model blends Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) and Together Facing the Challenge (TFTC). These approaches help us connect nurturing relationships with practical tools for everyday caregiving.
TBRI guides our attention to children’s needs for safety, connection, and empowerment. TFTC strengthens caregiver coaching, consistent routines, and supportive responses to challenging behaviors. Together, they shape our caregiver training, service planning, staff supervision, and ongoing family support.

We believe children deserve to be understood, have their voices heard, and maintain meaningful connections to their families, siblings, cultures, and communities.
Our work centers on safety, ethical care, and a lasting sense of belonging. We partner with caregivers, birth families when appropriate, professionals, and community organizations to support each child’s path toward permanency—whether through reunification, kinship care, guardianship, or adoption.
