Our Family, Supporting Yours
Carole’s Cottage is a family-founded agency built around a simple belief: children need people they can count on, and families need support they can count on, too.
We work alongside foster and kinship families to create homes where children feel safe, understood, and connected. Every child brings their own story, strengths, and needs. Our services help families respond with thoughtful care, practical guidance, and room for children to grow.

A steady home. Everyday care. Room to grow.
Sometimes healing starts with the everyday things—a familiar bedtime routine, someone cheering at a school event, or knowing who will be there tomorrow. Our Basic Foster Family services help caregivers build that sense of security.
We support families with caregiver training, ongoing coaching, school and healthcare coordination, and planning for each child’s future. Together, we make space for trust, friendships, family connections, and the ordinary childhood experiences every child deserves.
-
Understanding what’s behind the hard moments.
Big feelings and difficult behaviors can tell us that a child needs help feeling safe, expressing themselves, or managing experiences they have not yet learned how to process. We help families understand those needs and respond with patience and consistency.
Through individualized support, coordination with therapists and mental health providers, and hands-on caregiver coaching, we bring treatment goals into everyday life. Our focus is helping children build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and experience greater stability at home and school.
-
Care that makes room for each child’s way of experiencing the world.
Every child communicates, learns, and connects in their own way. Our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Autism services begin by getting to know those differences, along with the strengths and interests that make each child themselves.
We help families create supportive routines, understand sensory needs, explore communication tools, and build daily living skills at a meaningful pace. Coordination with schools, therapists, and community resources helps children participate, develop confidence, and feel a sense of belonging.
-
Thoughtful medical support, with childhood at the center.
A child’s care may involve medications, specialized equipment, frequent appointments, or complex daily routines. Their life also includes favorite songs, playtime, friendships, and moments of joy.
We help families bring those needs together through individualized care planning, coordination with healthcare and home health providers, and training tailored to the child’s medical needs. Caregiver guidance, emergency planning, and developmental support help families provide attentive care while making room for connection, comfort, and everyday childhood.
-
A caring place to pause, understand, and plan the next step.
When a child enters care or needs a clearer picture of the support that will help them thrive, the next decision matters. Our Short-Term Support services combine a nurturing foster home environment with assessment and stabilization.
We work with caregivers and professionals to understand the child’s health, development, emotional well-being, school needs, and strengths. That understanding guides service recommendations and transition planning, helping the next home or care team prepare to meet the child’s needs.

More intensive support within the relationships of a family home.
Coming soon with Texas Child-Centered Care (T3C)!
Some children need a more intensive level of emotional and behavioral support to feel safe and remain stable in a family setting. Our planned Treatment Foster Care program will pair specially prepared caregivers with closely coordinated treatment, individualized strategies, and ongoing clinical guidance.
The program will focus on helping children manage distress, strengthen relationships, and build everyday skills. It will also support carefully planned transitions from residential settings when family-based care is appropriate.
Additional Support for Life’s Changing Needs
Children’s needs can change as they grow, and families may need extra guidance along the way. Our add-on supports build on a child’s primary service package, with attention to the circumstances shaping their everyday life.

Growing independence with someone in your corner.
Preparing for adulthood involves plenty of firsts: a first job interview, a first budget, or a first apartment application. We help youth and young adults practice those steps and make plans that reflect their own goals.
Support includes life skills, education and career planning, money management, housing resource navigation, and help obtaining important documents. We also nurture healthy relationships and lasting connections, so growing independence comes with a dependable support network.

Caring for a young parent and the little one counting on them.
Young parents deserve encouragement, practical guidance, and space to keep pursuing their own futures. We support pregnant and parenting youth as they prepare for a baby, build parenting confidence, and develop a close, nurturing relationship with their child.
Our support brings together parenting education, prenatal and postpartum care coordination, emotional wellness resources, and help navigating childcare, benefits, school, work, and housing. Plans reflect the needs and goals of both parent and child.

Helping familiar love become a supported, lasting home.
Stepping in for a child you already know and love can bring new responsibilities, unexpected questions, and changes for the whole household. We walk alongside relatives and other established kinship caregivers as they navigate that transition.
Families receive guidance with home verification, caregiver training, resource and benefits navigation, school needs, and permanency planning. Coaching also helps caregivers respond to trauma and changing family relationships while preserving the connections that matter to the child.
-
Supporting the next chapter of an already meaningful relationship.
For some families, adoption grows from a bond that is already part of everyday life. Carole’s Cottage provides adoption services for kinship homes and for foster families who have continuously cared for the child they hope to adopt for at least 12 months through a licensed agency.
We guide eligible families through adoptive home screening, preparation, required disclosures, transition planning, and post-placement supervision. Throughout the process, we keep the child’s readiness, relationships, and long-term needs at the center. Adoption also depends on the child’s legal status, permanency plan, and required approvals.

Helping families navigate care across state lines.
When a child’s kinship connections cross state lines, families can face an unfamiliar process with several agencies involved. Carole’s Cottage offers support for kinship homes navigating the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC).
We help families understand the steps, prepare for home assessment and verification, and coordinate requested information and services with the agencies involved. Our role is to help the family prepare for the child’s needs while the sending and receiving states complete their required review and approvals.
